  1. Dear Marilyn Nelson,
I think that the place is empty and that is how Snook feels. I also think the poetry is so good it makes you feel like you're the character and you feel so empty.

  2. Dear Marilyn Nelson,
The book Snook Alone was very interesting! I liked when Abba Jacob was calling Snook but Snook was to busy to listen. I liked the settings in the book and I liked the theme. I think the message was sometimes waiting pays off.

  3. Dear Marilyn Nelson,
The characters Snook and Abba Jacob are like my family because my mom always wants me to pray and one time I got lost and then they found me. I liked this book because it is exciting to learn that Snook was empty and that is how I think you got the title Snook Alone. That is why I liked the story.

  4. Dear Marilyn Nelson,
What I liked about your book was Snook the dog. I liked the dog Snook because he was not really scared. Even I liked the end of the book because Abba Jacob came back to get Snook. And Snook was very excited.

  5. Dear Marilyn Nelson,

I really enjoyed the book you have written. I think that the words expressed the feelings and emotions of the characters Abba Jacob and Snook. I also felt like when my teacher was reading Snook Alone I felt like I was in poetry world because of the great poetry. Another reason I liked this book is because the captions help me understand what is happening in the illustrations. You are a very good author!

The book Snook Alone, I loved it well!! I like the way you put ''The baby birds were like teddy bears.'' I felt really really sad because I love dogs but I really loved the ending because Abba Jacob came back for Snook.

I thought that it was not happy when Snook was alone and Abba Jacob left Snook alone. The part I liked was the land crab and Snook fighting.

  17. Dear Marilyn Nelson,
I liked the part when you're describing the shark, but the part with the flippers I thought was a seal. I felt like I was Snook just lost inside walmart needing my mom. One thing I learned from your diction is that "carapace" means turtle shell.

I heard that you used to be a professor for my teacher, Miss Lilli. I really enjoyed your story! I felt scared when I read your book, because when the shark ate the poor little turtle I felt scared and I felt a little sad because, I hate it when animals die.

The thing I liked the most about your book "Snook Alone" was that the dog actually cared about his owner Abba Jacob. I also liked it when the turtles were nesting on the beach and Snook saw the turtles digging their nest.
