Have a Sun-Shining Summer!

Dear Students,

Mahalo for a wonderful year of fourth grade! Thank you to everyone who came to the Beach Party Potluck on Saturday! I attached a photo from one of our many swims in the ocean!

I hope you all have a magical summer break filled with sunshine, smiles, science experiments, and sensational books. Don't forget to email me!

May Day Magic!

Hi Class,

You all did a FANTASTIC job dancing during our 2011 May Day celebration! I have received many compliments on your poi ball prowess. All of your practice paid off!

Our Video Won!

Congratulations to the video group (Izumi, Zaysha-Lei, Cody, Michael, Faith, and Lily) who made the "I Can, You Can, We All Can," video for Olelo's Youth Xchange competition. This video won FIRST PLACE in the elementary school recycling category! Additionally, thank you to all of the students in our class for helping with the recycling project during our graphing unit. Every student's hard work helped our class be successful. Congratulations to the other two video groups from our class who also made it to the finalist banquet. Here are some photos from the finalist banquet!

Sending Hydroponics Home!

Our hydroponic Manoa lettuce heads are about half-size in these photos. I hope you all enjoy munching your yummy lettuce leaves! If you are interested in purchasing a hydroponics kit to grow more produce over the summer, you can contact Mr. Kosaka at mvgreens@hawaii.rr.com

Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry Prize Awards!

I met Kylee, Faith, and their families at the beach park a few weeks ago for the 12th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry Prize Award Ceremony. Kylee and Faith were being recognized for their first and second place poems about peace! They had the opportunity to read their poems aloud to the audience, and meet the contest staff on stage! Awesome job girls : ) I am so proud of you for your excellent writing!
